                                                                                                            August 25, 2022

Dear FMG Families,

I hope you all had a safe and restful summer.  With the new school year right around the corner, I want to welcome you back and provide you with a few updates.

Staff Updates

We are excited to announce several updates to the FMG staff. Our new District Supervisor of School Counseling Services, Mr. Dan Cocco, will have his office in the JDHS Guidance Department. The following teachers will be joining the FMG Faculty:  Rebecca Luzuraiga (Social Studies), Megan Brito (Special Education), Nada Amer (moving from Special Education to Communication Arts), Robyn Goerge (Leave Replacement for Communication Arts), Yosvani Cespedes (World Language - Spanish).

Student Schedules

Student schedules will be made available on Friday, September 2nd. The date change is due to the need to coordinate OnCourse Connect availability for students and parents, across all district schools. As stated before, questions or concerns about the schedule must be directed to your child’s school counselor. If your last name begins with the letters A through L, the counselor is Mrs. Chou and if your last name begins with the letters M through Z, the counselor is Ms. Zambola. Students looking for schedule changes or corrections should fill out a request form in the main office during school hours to see their School Counselor.

Annual Registration

Notification from our Technology Department will be sent to you shortly via email

(SwiftK12) regarding the opening of the online annual registration form(s) in OnCourse Connect. Once the online annual registration information is completed, parents and students will be able to view course schedules, in OnCourse Connect, on Friday, September 2nd.

Back to School Night

The FMG Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 22nd.  The evening will consist of a general presentation at 6 pm.  Following the presentation, parents will follow a truncated schedule to attend their child’s classes.  More details will be provided in a forthcoming notice. Please save the date!

Lunch Program Changes

The USDA is discontinuing the National School Lunch Program’s Seamless / Summer Option.  This provision allowed districts to provide free lunches for all students last school year. During the 2022-2023 school year, the district will return to providing breakfast and lunch programs at a Paid or Reduced rate. Please see the information at the following link for more information and details on how to pay for student meals: https://www.springfieldschools.com/Content2/1448. All families are asked to complete the Application for Free and Reduced Prices meals.

Student Laptop Distribution

The district technology team has been working hard to make sure that student laptops are prepared and ready for the school year.  Laptop distribution is scheduled for the week of September 12th during school hours. Please read and sign the Acceptable Use Policy so the distribution of the laptops will not be delayed.
